Family Friday - Weight Loss

Hello, hello!!

Welcome back to A Mascara Moment and Family Friday!

Today we are going to be talking about something that most of us seem to struggle with - weight loss.

Weight loss has always been a struggle for me.  I have never been obese, but always 5-10 pounds heavier then I would like.  I am sure I could have lost that weight if I had been committed to it, but I was never really been ready to change my eating habits and commit to exercise.

When I was pregnant, I gained a lot of weight.  I don't even know how much because I stopped weighing myself at around 8 months!  After giving birth, breast feeding and general child care/house care duties, I got down to 183lbs.  Pre birth I was 165lbs and was starting to get serious about getting back to 135-140 which is the goal weight for my height.

I lamely tried on and off for the last year and half to drop those 18 lbs and get back to pre birth weight.  In December I decided to get serious.

I purchased a treadmill, downloaded a calorie counting app and have committed myself to this journey.

On January 1st I weighed in at 183 lbs.  This morning I weighed in at 179 lbs.

Workout Plan

I am starting slow and easy with the workout.  I know that if I start too strong, I will lose steam and not continue on.

I have been focusing on cardio for now.  I do 1 hour of speed walking on the treadmill.  This seems to be something I can maintain and even enjoy.  I put on a movie and walk it out.

The treadmill I use is the NordicTrack T 6.5 S Treadmill

Once I get into a comfortable exercise routine, I am going to start a weight program.  I will be following the Beach Body program Body Beast.  It is a weight oriented program with little to no cardio.

Hopefully by following this plan, I will get into shape and tone up a little bit!

Food Plan

I am following a 1500/day calorie restricted diet.  I consulted a nutritionist and have the go ahead from my doctor.

I have been using the My Fitness Pal App.  It is great, easy to use and already has most of the foods we eat built into the app.

This has made it easy for me to track and control my calories.  This seems to be successful for me because I can still indulge, have a chocolate or an ice cream and I just have to make sure to enter it into the app.  No guilt, no muss, no fuss!

With this app and a healthy eating plan, I hope to drop this weight and be at a size I am more comfortable with and that leaves me with a healthier body in general!

**Remember to always consult a doctor or nutritionist before embarking on a diet or exercise program.**

If I get brave enough I will post some before and after pictures!

Do you struggle with weight loss?  I would love for you to share your experiences below.

As always, take care and I will talk to you on Monday!
