Table Talk Tuesday - Broccoli Chips

Hello, hello!

Welcome back to A Mascara Moment!!

Today we are going to cook!  This is a quick easy recipe that is super tasty.  My husband calls these broccoli chips, but they are really just roasted broccoli floret.

These little treats taste good on their own with a little ranch for dipping, or as a salad topping!

I eat these as a little snack.

They are quick and easy to whip up and are best eaten right away.  They still taste nice a day or two later, but they lose their crispiness.

Let's Cook....

  • 700g Broccoli
  • Olive Oil - to coat (4 tbsp)
  • 1/4 cup Panko
  • 2 tbsp Italian Seasoning
This recipe is subjective and you can season to taste, add salt is you like, reduce or increase the breadcrumbs.

1.)  Chop the broccoli into bite sized pieces and spread out onto a baking dish.

2.)  Coat the broccoli in the olive oil.

3.)  Coat the broccoli in the breadcrumbs and seasoning.

4.)  Bake for 20 minutes in a 400F pre-heated oven.  You can cook for longer if you prefer the broccoli to be crispier, but keep a watch on it because it will go from crispy to burnt very quickly.

5.)  Let cook for a few minutes and then serve!

I just love these!!  Let me know if you try out this little recipe!

Take care and I will talk to you tomorrow!!

Make Up Monday - Body Shop Nail Polish

Hello, hello!!

Welcome back to A Mascara Moment!!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  We were busy with errands and family time.  My husband went back to work after a nice long break.  It is always sad to see him off knowing he won't be home for 20 days.

Today we are talking about nail polish!  I love a good nail polish.  Shiny, long lasting and pretty are my main parameters when picking nail polish.

I received some Body Shop nail polish for Christmas and thought I would give it a try and report back to you all.

Here are some swatches and a review on two shades of the Body Shop Nail polish...

Colour Crush:  Meet Me At Dark, Peach Babe

Meet Me At Dark
Peach Crush

Both Colours In Action

Colour:  The colours are beautiful and looked great on my nails.  Meet Me After Dark is a great almond nude that worked well with my pink toned skin.  Peach Babe was a bright coral that looked so fun as an accent colour.

Application:  Both colours had the same consistency - thin and watery.  They went on patchy and very thin and pooled in the cuticles.  It took three shades for opacity and I probably should have put on one more.

Longevity:  For three days my nails looked great.  Then on the forth day, the polish looked awful.  It was chipped and flaking and gross.  I did a touch up coat and they looked great again for another two days and then overnight just looked terrible again.  I did not add a top coat so that I could test just the nail polish.

Recommend:  I loved the colour and finish on these polishes.  The consistency was terrible and it felt like I was using half the bottle just to paint my nails.  I would probably not try any new colours but I liked the colour of Meet Me After Dark so much, that I would purchase that again and just deal with the crappy application.

Have you tried these polishes?  Do you like them?

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you pick up any Body Shop Nail Polish!

Take care and I will talk to you tomorrow!

Thursday Is For Luxe - Wishlist 2017

Hello, hello!

Welcome back to A Mascara Moment!

Today I am going to share with you my 2017 Luxury Wish List.  A wish list are items I hope to acquire in 2017b and beyond.  They are all frivolous items, but this is for fun!  I love to record my wish list and then look back in a year to see what I wanted vs what I purchased.  I may get all of these items, non of these items, completely different items!  We will see.

On to the list!

2017 Wish List

Louis Vuitton Delightful MM or Melie

I want to get  a hobo style shoulder bag this year.  I have a Tory Burch Marion that I love so much, but would like an alternative to that.  I love both the Delightful and Melie for their slouchy boho vibe.  I will need to try these on, so I will have to wait until we visit Vancouver.

Louis Vuitton Speedy 30

I swear, this has been on my wish list for years.  I never seem to buy it.  Something else always come up and this gets over looked.  I am committed to purchasing it in 2017 ( I say this every year, lol).  I may get the Classic version as opposed to the Bandolier, but we will see.

Louis Vuitton Eva

I purchased this pre-loved mid-last year.  Then I sold it in December.  I miss this little bag.  I thought the Felice would be enough, but I still want this one back in my collection.  I have been eyeing the Damier Azur version lately.  Hmm....

Louis Vuitton Key Cles

This is the only SLG I have on my mind.  I don't really need anything else and am very happy with my little collection!

Louis Vuitton Bandeau - Tribute to Petite Malle
I have no real use for this except that it is so pretty and I want it.  I would have to get it pre-loved as they are sold out.

Louis Vuitton Bom Dia Mule

I am not much for luxury shoes.  I don't lust after Rock Studs or Chanel Flats, but I love these.  They are basically LV Birkenstocks.  So ugly they are cute!  I have heard these are limited and very hard to get, so it might just be regular Birkenstocks for me!

Movado Bela

This is my favourite watch of all time.  I lust after Tag and Rolex, but this watch makes my heart sing.  I have no idea why I have not purchased this yet.  It is going on my Valentines/Anniversary gift list.  I hope I can pick it up this year!

Tiffany Bead Earrings in Silver 8mm

These are so pretty, simple and classic.  They are the perfect every day earring and look great dressed up or down.

Share your wish list with me on Instagram using #amascaramoment.

Take care and talk to you tomorrow!

Wardrobe Wednesday - OOTD

Hello, hello!!

Welcome back to A Mascara Moment!

Yesterday was a busy day and I wanted to be comfortable, but still look cute.  It wasn't too cold, so I didn't need a winter jacket (which I was ecstatic about).

I had an oversized boyfriend sweater hanging in my closet (since last spring) and I decided to pull it out.

I paired it with my favourite jeans and a grey tank.  To add a pop of colour, I put on my bright coral flats!  I finished up the look with my LV Palm Springs Mini.

I think it turned out cute and casual!

GAP Oversized Boyfriend Sweater
GAP Girlfriend Jeans
Old Navy Tami
Tory Burch Reva Flats
Louis Vuitton Mini Palm Springs Backpack

My favourite part of any outfit is always the shoes and bag!
Reva Flats
Mini Backpack
I have been having heaps of fun going through my closet and wearing my clothes.  I hope to spruce up my wardrobe and make some really fun OOTD's in the future.  Stay Tuned!

Take care and I will talk to you tomorrow!

Table Talk Tuesday - 2 Ingredient Banana Pancake Fail

Hello, hello!!

Welcome back to A Mascara Moment.

Today we are making a very simple, much raved about item.  I have seen this recipe floating around, seen easy how to YouTube videos on this recipe, but I have never tried it.

I had a ripe banana sitting lonely on the kitchen counter and thought I would finally attempt it.

Now, let me tell you, this started as a huge fail and then turned itself around, only to be a total fail.

  • 1 Ripe Banana
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • Cinnamon (optional)

Crack and whisk the eggs.

Mash the banana until smooth

Add the eggs to the banana and mix well.

My egg/banana mixture was very runny, like an omelette.

Pour a small, thin amount into your greased frying pan.  I used medium high heat, setting 6.

You can sprinkle with cinnamon if you like.

Cook for 1-2 minutes on each side.  You will know it is ready to turn when it takes on a darker (omelette like) colour.

Plate and eat as is or with butter and syrup.

My Results

Attempt 1

This did not go well.  I had the heat setting on 4 and did not grease the pan.

Attempt 2

This attempt was much better.  I increased the heat to 6 and greased the pan with a little olive oil.

They flipped easily and I cooked them for 2 minutes one side, 1 minute the other side.

Final Results

They look great and after a few attempts they cooked evenly.

The ultimate fail came with taste.  My husband did not like them.  My son took a bite and then spit it out.  (He is 2, this is perfectly acceptable).

I did not mind them.  They taste almost like a thin banana quiche.  They do not taste like pancakes.

I would probably not make these again.

Next time I will just make regular pancakes.  But at least I had a great big breakfast yesterday!

Have you tried these?  Are they a hit at your house?

Take care and I will talk to you tomorrow!

Family Friday - Our Wedding

Hello, hello!!

Welcome back to A Mascara Moment and Happy Friday.

Today we are getting personal on this here blog, and talking about My Wedding!  A topic I love.

My husband and I dated for 8 years before we got engaged and were married about 8.5 years after we started dating.  Neither of us are traditional people and we weren't sold on the idea of marriage, until we had our son.  We both fell into the conclusion that marriage was now right for us and we took the plunge.

I don't have a great engagement story.  We were just lying in bed one night, talking about things, and were like "let's get married in June."  Very romantic!

Our wedding follows with our non-traditional nature.  We had a tiny, backyard wedding and our theme was "Lawn Flamingos."

Wedding Invitation

Adorable Wedding Invitations
We got out wedding invites from an Etsy shop called AnnaMazurek.  They were simple and funny.  They really represented the energy we wanted at our wedding!  Anna is great and really worked with us to get exactly what we wanted!

Lawn Flamingo Décor

We had 70 of these guys.

My best friends made the bouquets from Costco flowers.

Homemade Cupcakes from Butter cookbook

We made everyone bring their own lawn chairs just to add to the randomness.  We were also very lucky with the weather.  It had been pouring all week and we got a bright, warm and sunny day!

Wedding Ceremony and Reception

Our ceremony was simple and conducted by a Justice Of the Peace.  We had our best friends and family stand up for us and my son and niece were the ring bearer and flower girl.  It was perfect.  We just had a little BBQ afterwards and everyone socialized and ate and had a grand time.

I wore a simple white sundress from the Gap.  The wedding party just wore whatever they wanted.  There was no dress code, theme or matching.  We wanted it to be super chill, comfortable and affordable for everyone.

Ring Bearer and Flower Girl

That was our little wedding.  It was the perfect day.  Everyone chipped in to help set up, cook and decorate.  It was the absolute most perfect day ever.  We loved every minute of it and it was exactly what we wanted.

Have a wonderful weekend friend and I will talk to you on Monday!

Thursday Is For Luxe - Luxury Items I Couldn't Live Without Tag (Eva In The City)

Hello, hello!!

Welcome back to A Mascara Moment!  Today is all about luxe, my favourite topic!

I am going to be doing the Luxury Items I Couldn't Live Without Tag made by Eva In The City.  She had a great YouTube Channel and blog.  You should check them out!

This tag is about the luxury items you couldn't imagine your life without.  (Note: this is all for fun and obviously I can live without all of these items.). These are not necessarily my most loved items, but they are my absolute essentials!

There are six categories, so let's get started!

Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis

I got this bag mid December and I could not live without it.  It is perfect.  With a child, I need to be hands free at all times, but still need the space to carry everything I need!  The PM fits the bill.  I have not changed out of it and do not think that I will.  I just love it!  I can fit all of my items, and even a diaper and wipes in a pinch.  (I think I need a Toilety 19 to organize all of the toddler stuff.)

Louis Vuitton 6 Key Holder

Essential!  I take this with me everywhere I go.  It holds keys but can also hold cards and cash.  It is the perfect grab and go! I use this every single day.  If I had to give up every luxury thing that I own except for one thing, this would be what I kept!

Tory Burch Flats

These are the closest thing I have to designer shoes.  I love Tory Burch Reva flats and need to get a few more pairs in neutral colours.  They are comfortable, cute and hold up well in all weather!  I even wear these in the winter.

Tiffany Silver Hoops

My husband got me these to celebrate our first year of dating.  He was only 22 at the time, and he got dressed up in a suit to go to Tiffanys.  So cute.  These earrings are beautiful and sentimental.  I cherish them.

YSL Eyeshadow

This is the perfect neutral eyeshadow collection.  All of the shadows are pigmented and blend perfectly.  You can create a multitude of looks and they all leave the most perfect sheen on your eyelids.  I always keep this in my makeup bag and it creates my easy everyday look.  Must have!

YSL Black Opium

I got a sample of this and fell in love.  The scent is amazing and works so well with my body chemistry.   It lasts all day on me and my whole closet smells heavenly.  This is the first perfume I have ever worn where my husband said "I like your perfume."  I need to restock this.  I have been using samples for the last couple months!

Misc Extra

Louis Vuitton Round Coin Purse

Another absolute essential in my world.  I put this is every bag.  I don't like having coin in my wallets or loose in my bags, so I can't live without this guy.  We mainly use cash, so I always have a ton of coin and am in constant need of this little friend.   It can also hold some cash if you want to go compact.  One of the best purchase I have made.

What a fun tag!!  I hope this helped you if you were thinking about any of these items.

I tag all of you whether you have a YouTube channel, blog, twitter or Instagram or just want to leave your items in the comments below.

I would love to know what your answers are!!

Also, follow me on instagram (if you want) @mascaramoment

As always, take care and I will talk to you tomorrow!!
