Tarte GraveyardGirl Swamp Queen Palette - Review and Swatches

Hello, hello!

Welcome back to the blog!

Today we are going to swatch and review the very popular Tarte Palette - Graveyard Girl's Swamp Queen.  I did not review this when I initially picked it up because it was sold out everywhere.

To my surprise Tarte has re-released this palette and the Graveyard Girl Liquid Lipsticks.

So now I can review it for you all!

Here we go...

Overview

This palette comes in a thin and sturdy cardboard case with a magnetic closure.  There is a large mirror and a brush inside the palette.

The brush is actually useful!!

Swatches

Sweet tea, Does this thing..., Garor Wings

#SFS, natural peaches, dogman, big baby, sassy bun, sippy sippy, haunting, uncommon, mancat

Review

Before I review this, I just want to say that I am a fan of Bunny from Graveyard Girl.  I think she is fantastic and a great female role model.  I tried not to be bias when I did this review, but I am sure I probably am.

I am a huge fan of this palette.  It is a great mix of colours and textures.  It really is a one stop shop for your face make-up.  You can do eyes, blush and highlight all from this palette.  I don't contour or bronze so that is not an issue for me.  I use it all the time and pack it with me when I travel.

To note:  I love glitter.  I love glitter shadows, highlights, blushes, and glitter fallout so that is a bonus for me.  If you dislike glitter, this palette is not for you.  If glitter fall out makes you crazy, this palette is not for you.

In depth:

Sweet Tea -  A very warm orange toned matte bronzer.  This is too warm/orange for me to use on my face, but it is a perfect crease colour.  Goes on even and pigmented.  Blends smoothly and stay all day.

Does This Thing Really Work - A gorgeous plum blush with glitter.  This blush is pigmented.  Be careful when you apply!  It blends out like a dream and leaves a beautiful glow.

Gator Wings - A glitter packed, champagne coloured highlight.  This goes on super pigmented and shines!  There is glitter fall out.

Eyeshadows - All of the eye shadows are pigmented and apply opaque and evenly.  They all blend out well but do not layer well.

Big Baby is powdery and somewhat streaky.

Dogman, Sassy Bun and Sippy Sippy are my favourites from this palette.  Sassy Bun is one of my favourite eyeshadows ever.

I recommend this palette.  It is $54CAD on Tarte.com.  I think it is work the cost.  The amount of use I have gotten out of it already has more then paid for it!

And, it smells like chocolate.

I would jump on this if I were you.

I also hope they make Sassy Bun a single shadow!

Did you pick this up?  What do you think of it?  What do you think of the re-release?

All The Best,
Jen

Louis Vuitton Mini Palm Springs Backpack - Reverse Monogram - Review and Photos

Hello, hello!

Welcome back to A Mascara Moment!

Thank you so much for all the love on the Alma BB post!

I thought I would do another LV review/photos for those of you who loved the first one,

Today we are going to be looking at the Louis Vuitton Mini Palm Springs Backpack - Reverse Monogram.

This item was a gift from my husband.  He noticed how much I was enjoying my Zara Mini Backpack and wanted to get me the LV version.  I don't know that I would have purchased this for myself, as I already have the Zara one, and it is a very expensive item for a "trendy" piece.  That said, I do love it!  It was such a thoughtful gift and I can't get enough of this little purse.

I wanted to do this particular review now because there are rumors that the Mini Palm Springs is being discontinued, so if you are interested in it, try to get it soon!

Overview

Price: Reverse Monogram - $2470CAD

Current Variations:
  • Original Canvas Version - $2300CAD
  • LE World Tour - $2540CAD
Accessories:  This bag comes with two black adjustable shoulder straps.

Material:  The exterior is canvas, the straps and handle are leather and the interior is a wipe able textile lining.

Pictures

                                                                                      Accurate Colour ^

I tried to get the colour of the reverse monogram as accurate as possible.  In pictures and on YouTube it looks more mustard, but in person it is a rich caramel colour.

Review

The Mini Palm Springs can be worn as a backpack, shoulder bag, top handle or cross body bag.  I generally wear it cross body.

It is comfortable to wear and the adjustable straps make it easy to personalize for your needs.

This is a fun and casual every day bag.  I can throw it on cross body and not worry about it.  There is no vachetta, so it is an all weather bag.

I think it is super versatile and can hold all of your daily essentials.  The washable interior is great if you are using it as a backpack to hold snacks or liquid.

I love it and wear it every chance I get.  I adore the reverse monogram and I think that is one of the reasons I love this bag so much.

Cons:
The zipper is a temporary con for me.  When you first get the bag, the zipper is hard to open.  It has more to do with the shape of the bag and not the zipper itself.  Once it is worn in, the zipper is no problem at all and opens smoothly.

WIMB

This little bag holds a ton!  Below are the items that I regularly carry in it!

Top Row:  Fendi Monster Key Pouch, LV Victorine
Middle Row:  6 Key Holder, LV Mini Palm Springs, Passport Holder (Etsy)
Bottom Row:  LV Bag Charm, LV Round Coin Purse, LV Mini Pochette

With room to spare!

The Mini Palm Springs can also hold a full sized wallet, which is always a plus if you are in a hurry and don't have the time to switch out wallets!

Have you purchased a Mini Palm Springs?  Do you love it?  I hope this review was helpful for anyone on the fence about this item!

Happy Shopping!

Take care,
Jen

Covergirl The Supersizer Fibers Mascara

Hello, Hello!

Welcome back to the blog!

Today we are going to be talking about Covergirl's New Mascara:  The Supersizer Fibers.  I have been using this mascara for a couple of months and have a good idea of how it performs and how I feel about it.

Overview

I purchased this in Very Black.  It is available at all locations where you can buy drug store makeup.  I paid $7.00 for it, on sale.

The packaging is so cute.  I love the turquoise and purple combo.  I find myself reaching for it over my other mascaras just because it always catches my eye.

I will admit that I don't really know much about this fiber trend.  I purchased this because I wanted to try out a fiber mascara without committing to a high end price tag.  After using this, I am going to look into a higher end one for comparison.

Brush

The brush is a thin tapered triangle shape with short hard bristles.  It doesn't pick up much product which cuts down on clumping.

I love this brush.  It is perfect for separating and building up layers.

Review

I really like the Supersizer Fiber mascara.  It creates volume and length.  It defines my eyelashes and gives them a "falsies" look.  I use it regularly and like the look it gives.

That said I would not purchase it again.  It doesn't wow me more then my usual mascaras.  I like it for a more dramatic night look, but there are a million mascaras on the market for that.

The formula works very well, but dries out quickly.   My mascara is already very dry and is not performing like it did when the tube was new.  The last few times I have used it, I have noticed it has dried out my eyelashes.  Again, it did not go this when I was first using the mascara.

If you go through mascara quickly and want a reasonably prices fiber mascara, this might be for you.

Thanks so much for stopping by and let me know if you buy this and love it or hate it!

Take care,
Jen

Louis Vuitton World Tour Alma BB - A Closer Look

Hello, hello!!

Welcome back to the blog.

Today I have a little bit of luxury for you.

I recently purchased the Louis Vuitton Alma BB in the LE World Tour Print.  I wanted to do a quick photo shoot/review on the item as there isn't much online or on Youtube.  The website only shows one side of the bag and doesn't quite capture how cute it really is.

Let's get into it!

Specs.

Retail Price $1850 CAD

Measurements: 24.0 x 17.0 x 12.0 cm

Handle Drop: 9.0cm

Strap Length:  114.0cm

Review

I have been enjoying this bag immensely.  I didn't want to switch out of it!

It is great as a top handle, shoulder and cross body bag.  I find it very comfortable to wear, even when full of items.  I can fit everything I need for the day inside.  It holds my smaller wallet comfortably with lots of extra room.

It can hold a full size wallet, but then everything else it a tight fit.

I am aware that the "stickers" are screened on and can chip eventually.  This would normally bother me, but with this World Tour line it does not.  The "stickers" make it so casual that I think some chipping will only make the bag cuter and more casual looking.  I am not worried about the vachetta either, as stated above, the casual nature of this bag will just be enhanced by patina and water spots!

Con

The only real con for this bag (so far) is something super nit picky, but it could bother someone who is particular about details.

As you can see, the gold on the bag and on the strap do not match.  This Alma BB has a light brushed gold and the strap is the standard shiny yellow gold.

It isn't the end of the world, but something to keep in mind if that would bother you.

Conclusion

I love this bag, love how it wears and especially love it with the "stickers"

I am loving this World Tour line.  I also picked up the Miami Bag Charm.

Have you made any purchases from this line?  Let me know in the comments.

Take Care,
Jen

Be Palette from Bubz Beauty

Hello Hello,

Welcome back to the blog.

Today we are swatching and reviewing the Bubz Beauty 12 pan eyeshadow palette called Be...  This product is a collab between Lindy and BH Cosmetics.

Lets jump into it.

Overview

This is a 12 pan palette of neutral shadows with a few pops of colour.  The shadows range from mattes, satins and metallic.

I purchased it for $12.50 USD plus $6 shipping to Canada.  It is available on BHCosmetics.com.

The packaging is a thin cardboard.  It is light and compact, but sturdy.  It closes with a magnetic closure for security.

The colours are very neutral and can be used to make a variety of looks from daytime work looks, to a bold night time eye.

Swatches

Top Row

Bottom Row

As you can see from the swatches, the shadows are pigmented but light.  They build easily and this works well from a variety of eye looks.

Review

This palette has surprised me at every turn.  I expected it to be alright and something I might reach for now and then.  Instead, I love it.  I have used it regularly since I purchased it.

The shadows are soft and apply opaque and smooth.  They do not drag on the eye.  The shadows are sheer but very buildable.  They blend well and don't muddy.  They also layer very well.  I have done a daytime look and then piled another shadow on top for a night look.  They last all day on me, with primer.

I love the simplicity yet diversity of the palette.

The ides behind the palette is also very cute.  It gives the user an inspirational message along with a beauty eyeshadow look.

I easily recommend this palette.

Have you tried this one out?  Do you like it?  Sound off below :)

Take care,
Jen

Sephora VIB Purchases - Urban Decay Urban Essentials Eye Kit and Bite The Perfect Bite

aHello, hello!

Welcome back to the blog.

Today marks the start of Sephora's Famous VIB Sale.  If you are a VIB use code VIB20 for 20% off your entire purchase.  The sale started on the 4th for Rouge clients.  I am not a Rouge level spender, lol.  This is a great time to stock up on essentials and some fun items you don't want to pay full price for.

We are going to take a look at the two items I purchased!  I am all stocked up on essentials and am trying to stop spending so much on beauty.  I mean, how much eyeshadow can I have!

Alrighty, here we go...

Urban Decay Urban Essentials Eye Kit - $62.50

I was so excited for this kit!!  Besides the insane value, you can't buy Bordello as a single in Canada.  When I saw this kit had a full sized Bordello, I purchased it straight away!

In this kit you get;

  • three full sized eyeshadows in Bordello, Sellout and Psychedelic Sister
  • three full sized 24hour eyeliner in Zero, Demolition and Psychedelic Sister
  • A mini sized shadow primer in Original
All of these items apply opaue, smoothly and are easy to blend.  They have all day staying power and are right in line with all Urban Decay products.

The nice thing about this type of kit is that, unlike the Christmas palettes that can be hit or miss, this is just a collection of permanent collection items.  You know they are good, because they are staple items.

The value on this is amazing, especially with the 20% sale discount.  To buy all of these items individually you would pay $154.  A savings of $104 with the sale.

Bite The Perfect Bite - $29 (sold out online)

In this mini set you get;
  • 4 1.55g amuse bouche lipstick in Fig, Pepper, Honeycomb and Nori
This kit is great to try out the Bite lipstick formula and to get an array of nude style lipsticks.

Fig, Pepper, Honeycomb, Nori

It is an adorable kit and if you can find it, I would recommend it!

What did you get from the sale?  I keep having a look and trying to talk myself out of putting in more orders!  Items sell out fast, so get them while you can!

Thanks!
Jen

Anastasia Beverly Hills - Modern Renaissance Review and Swatch

Hello, hello!!

Welcome back to my little piece of the internet.

Today we are doing a review and swatch of an already heavily reviewed and swatched palette.  I am so super late on this, but since I purchased it, I can not get enough of it.

This would be a great buy for the Sephora VIB sale, if you don't have it already.  Which you probably do.

Here we go...

Palette

Eye Shadow

The shadows are pigmented and velvety.  In the swatches they look patchy, but that does not translate to the eye.  You don't have to be as careful when dipping your brush into the pan as with the Mario palette.  It has less kick back and most of the colours are not as intense on first application.

These have great, all day staying power and can be built up later in the day for a night look, without creasing or clumping.  You can really build the look up or down.

This palette is a great for creating subtle yet colourful looks and very neutral looks.

Application

These shadows apply easily, glide onto the eye and blend out seamlessly.  They are great for layering without getting muddy.

Cons

No cons.  None.  I am a fan girl

Summary

Find it, buy it, perfection.

Let me know what you think of this palette!
Take care,
Jen
