Chanel Reveal

Hello, hello!

This is a quick reveal post of a new piece I have added to my little SLG collection.

I think this piece is so cute and it was a big check off the wishlist...

Without further ado..... Reveal!!

The Chanel Boy Coin Purse in Yellow Chevron.

This is my first Chanel SLG.  I could not resist this adorable little card holder.  I have been on the hunt for a boy coin in the Chevron print since I first laid eyes on it.

I picked this up from Fashionphile.  It was a pre-owned piece in perfect condition and I got it for under retail!!

This piece is multi-functional.  It can substitute for a wallet, or be used to hold extra cards.  I can fit all of my cards in it and the zipper isn't stressed at all.

I didn't have a small wallet that could go in my clutches or evening bags, so this will be a perfect fit in my collection.  I can also use it day to day for my extra cards.

I am extremely happy with my first little Chanel piece and I can't wait to start using it :)

What fun new pieces have you picked up?

Thanks!
Jen

SLG Wishlist

A couple of weeks ago I put together my handbag wish list.  You lovely folks seemed to really like it, thanks for that :)

Today I am going to share with you my SLG Wishlist.

I am a complete sucker for SLG's, especially the LE ones.  I constantly save up for bags and then spend all the money on SLG's!  Does anyone else do this?

Let's get to the list!  And please share yours with me in the comments below!!

Louis Vuitton

Caissa Wallet in Rose Ballerine

I ordered this when it first came out and Louis Vuitton never sent it.  There was a glitch and it got lost in the system.  I completely forgot about it, until I bought my neverfull and decided I need a matching wallet.

Caissa Card Holder in Rose Ballerine

The Caissa wallet only has 4 credit card slots, so this little buddy is a perfect addition to hold the rest of my important cards.  It can slide right into the wallet and then those cards are not sliding around.

Monogram Mini Pochette - Trans Atlantique

I missed out on the Evasion line and have regretted it.  The trans atlantique line is just as cute and the monogram mini pochette is going to be pink whereas the monogram evasion line was orange.  I prefer the pink, so it could have been handbag fate that I missed out.

I will insert a picture when I can find one!

Chanel

Boy Coin Purse

The moment I saw this in the Boy version, with the Chevron print, I was in love.  These are so hard to track down new, so I have been scouring the pre loved market.  I found one on Fashionphile in almost perfect condition.  I guess this is checked off the wish list for now!

YSL

Chevron Card Holder in Pale Blush

This is one of those "blame it on Instagram" future purchases.  It is just so pretty.  It has great reviews and besides being so gorgeous, is super functional.

GUCCI

Gucci Ghost Mini Bag

The new Gucci Ghost collab is so fresh, trendy and fun.  It merges the classic style of Gucci with the bold imagination of the street artist.  I am especially drawn to the graffiti pieces.  This mini bag is perfect.  I have it in SLG's because I would use it more like a mini pochette then a bag.

Well, there is my wish list.  As with all wish lists, I will probably acquire one or two things and then start my next wish list.  They are always changing and evolving!

What is on your wishlist?

Take care,
Jen

Chanel Le Rouge Collection No 1 - Swatch and First Impression

The New Fall 2016 Collection from Chanel is out and it is fabulous!

I ordered a few items from the new line and have been dying to share them with you!

Spoiler alert:  They are all perfect and I recommend them all!  I am going to be ordering a few more items from the collection, so stay tuned!

Chanel Les 4 Ombres - 268 Candeur Et Experience

This palette is going to be great for fall and winter looks. It can create wearable daytime/work looks as well as intense dramatic eyes for night time and winter parties.

268 - Candeur Et Experience

Medium Brown, Light Brown, Red, Dark Brown

I usually purchase a new palette for each season, but with this one, there is no need.

This palette has four smoky, warm toned colours.  A light, medium and dark brown as well as a brown based red.

All shadows are pigmented, smooth and buttery.  They apply evenly and opaque.  They blend well without muddling together.  The red can be applied lightly for a sheer accent or built up for maximum intensity.

They are not powdery or dry.  There is no fall out in the pan or on the eye.

This palette is amazing!

Chanel Rouge Allure - 168 Rouge Ingenue

Chanel lipstick is expensive and legendary.

168 - Rouge Ingenue

168 - Rouge Ingenue

This one is no exception.

Smooth, opaque after one swipe, moisturizing and long lasting (for a crème).

I lined my lips with Kylie Cosmetics Candy K and then applied the Chanel in two quick swipes.

Rouge Ingenue is a brown based nude.  On me it has a cool undertone.  It gives the perfect nude lip to compliment the Candeur Et Expereince shadow palette.

Total win!

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Gloss - 530 Rouge Radical

I wasn't sure what a nail gloss was when I ordered this.  From the look of the product in the ar, it was going to apply as a sheer bright red.

530 - Rouge Radical

One Coat Application

On the nails it goes on opaque and more of a bright, bright pink red.  The formula is a jelly type base.  It is fun to apply, because it is almost like magic!

The colour keeps photographing as an orange red, but it is more pink/Christmas red.

I am on day two with no chipping.  I did not apply a top coat, because the gloss on this formula is so beautiful I didn't want to cover it up.

This colour makes me hum Christmas carols and is going to be on heavy rotation with the OPI Washington DC polishes.

Bonus Review:  Nars Outer Limits Shadow

Outer Limits is a re-release of a LE collection from a year or so ago.  It sold out immediately and I missed out.  When I saw it was included in their new line of metallic, I scooped it right up.

Outer Limits

Rose Gold

This colour is a metallic, neon rose gold.

It is sheer and glittery and is perfect over a rose gold or metallic pink crème eyeshadow.

There is a huge amount of fall out with this eye shadow.  I don't have an issue with this as I love the look of glitter fall out (weird I know).

If fall out bothers you, skip this one.  If you love a glittery eye and fall out is no big deal, order this up!

I want to try the rest of the colours in the line up.  I love a good glitter.

Well, there is my little review with some swatches for you all!

I hope you have been well and will talk with  you again in two days when I post my Luxury SLG wishlist!

Giveaway Update:
No one entered (super sad face).  I will hold it again in the future, with some other goodies thrown in!

Take Care,
Jen

OPI - Washington DC by Kerry Washington Swatches, Review and Giveaway

Hello all,

Welcome back to my little piece of the internet.

Today we are looking at some of the colours from the new OPI Washinton DC line.  This is a fall friendly, sultry line and it was designed by Oliva Pope herself, okay, okay, by the real life person Kerry Washington.

I love Scandal and I am sure you do too.  It is, hands down, one of the best tv shows ever made.

Who doesn't want to be Olivia Pope?

Now, at the very least, we can have her nails!

I picked up both mini sets to try out.

WASHINGTON DC LIMITED EDITION MINI COLLECTION

This set of three are the LE of the collection and were designed and named by Kerry Washington.

All three of the LE colours went on smooth and were completely opaque in two coats.  They dried quickly and lasted 4 days (topcoat free) without chipping.  They are gorgeous and glossy and will work perfectly with every skin tone.

Inside the ISABELLEtway, Kerry Blossom, "Liv" in the Grey

They are the perfect fall colours and are going to be on my nails from today through November!

I am going to pick up the full size bottles of all three LE colours.

WASHINGTON DC MINI COLLECTION

This set of four polishes are inspired by Kerry Washington and are a sampling of the rest of the collection.  This four set is a perfect cross section of the entire collection.

All four of the nail polish went on streaky and patchy and needed three coats to be opaque.  As above, they dried quickly and lasted 4 days (topcoat free) without chipping.  We The Female and CIA are both glossy and shiny and look great on.  Pale to the Chief and Never a Dulles Moment, while beautiful colours, applied unevenly and even after four coats, I couldn't get them to even out.  It is a shame, because the colours are amazing.  I am going to work with them and see if I can even them out.

We The Female, Pale to the Chief, CIA, Never a Dulles Moment

If I can figure it out, I will be getting the full size of Pale to the Chief.  It is so beautiful.

This is a fantastic collection overall.  The colours are beautiful and fall season appropriate.  Sometime with these large collections, OPI can miss the mark.  With Washington DC, they have not let us down.

If you only order one, make it "Liv" in the Grey.  So gorgeous.

Now to the GIVEAWAY. - Now Closed

Damier Ebene and Rose Ballerine. - Reveal

Hello, hello again!

Today I am going to do a luxury reveal on two new items I picked up!!

If you read my handbag wishlist post, you will probably be surprised at my choice.  I thought my next purchase would be a LV Speedy B 30 in Damier Ebene.  Turns out, I was wrong, lol!

This first piece wasn't even on my radar until I saw it on Instagram.

Let's reveal...

Louis Vuitton 6 Key in Damier Ebene and Rose Ballerine

It is practical and cute and completely unnecessary as I have 2 other LV key holders and 1 Fendi Monster Key Pouch.

That said, it was a definite want over need and I love it!  I have already moved my keys in and it matches!! :)

This second piece was something I had been hearing about and thought might be cool, but wasn't for me.

Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM in Damier Ebene and Rose Ballerine

I never thought I would own a Neverfull.  I have never wanted one.  After watching the reveals and reviews on YouTube and Instagram, it got in my brain and I ordered it.

I am so glad that I did!  It is such a great bag.  I started using it right away and don't see myself swaping into another bag for quite some time.  It is the perfect size to use daily, fits all of my and my sons stuff.

The colour combo of the browns and pinks is perfect.  It makes the bag softer then with the original red interior (which is also lovely).

Every time I catch sight of this bag it makes me smile.

I love looking at it and carrying it.

This bag is also extremely light, even after it is packed full.

Sadly, these new pieces mean that some of my current lovelies have to go.  I try not to collect too many bags and I try not to double up on styles.

The Patent Lady Dior is going up for sale and possibly one of my agendas or other key holders.

What do you think of these two beauties?!  Check out some of the unboxings and reviews online.  Pink2Paris has a great one and was the inspiration for this purchase!

Do you have a one in, one out rule when it comes to bags or are you a true collector?

Take care,
Jen

My Favourite Drugstore Makeup

Hello, hello!

I hope everyone had a fab weekend.  We played in the pool, went for walks and tried to beat the heat!

Today's blog is going to be a run down of some of my favourite drugstore finds.

Most of these products are not new, but they are what I use and have used for ages.

Let's jump into it!

Covergirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick, L'oreal infallible Eyeshadow, Maybelline Color Tattoo, Flower Colorplay Crème Eyeshadow, Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara, Covergirl Brow and Eyemaker, Covergirl Clen Pressed Powder, NYX Conceal. Correct. Contour

Lipstick

The new Katy Kat Matte's are everything.  They have become my go to lip colour.  They are smooth, pigmented and feel great on the lips.

Revlon Super Lustrous is a staple in my collection.  They are smooth and creamy.  Apply perfectly and last all day with minimal touch ups.

I have an array of colours in both of these formulas, but two of my favourits colours are Kitty Purry and Blushing Mauve.

Eyeshadow

I find that drug store eyeshadow is usually not great.  It doesn't blend, isn't pigmented and is really hit and miss.

Three exceptions to this are L'oreal Infallible Crème Shadows, Maybelline Color Tattoo and Flower Cosmetics Crème Shadows.

All three go on creamy and pigmented.  They are so easy to work with and create a great effect.

Flower Cosmetics Wild Geranium, Maybelline Bad to the Bronze, L'oreal Amber Rush.

I am never without those three shades.

Face

Two of my three everyday face items are drugstore.  I try the high end products and always come back to these.

Covergirl Clean Pressed Powder.

This powder goes on light and smooth.  It isn't powdery (lol) or streaky.  It keeps me shine free for 6-8 hours and when you reapply, it doesn't clump.

NYX.  Conceal. Correct. Contour

I bought this on a whim one day at the drug store and boy was it a good whim!

It comes in three tones, light, medium and dark and will work for most skin tones.

This entire palette is creamy, applies smoothly and lasts all day.  You have the option to correct under eye circles and red blemishes and then conceal with the skin tone colours.  I don't contour much, but the contour here blends perfectly and isn't too yellow, so can work for a pink toned person like me!

Brows

I have huge brows and I like them that way.  Since pregnancy, they have gotten sparse and I have been experimenting with different brow products.  I have landed on this one and haven't looked back.

Covergirl Brow & Eye Makers

This pencil is easy to apply, doesn't drag on the skin and gives a very natural look to the brow.  The colour range isn't great and won't work for everyone.  This lasts all day on me.

Mascara

I try to love other mascaras, but they always end up being compared to this one and between application, longevity and price point, there is no competition!

Covergirl Clump Crusher

I use this every day.  It applies like a dream, doesn't clump, can be layered, lengthens, volumizes and lasts all day.  No flaking, no running and it washes off quickly and easily.

Those are my drug store favourites.  I always have them on hand and hope you will check some of them out.

Take care,
Jen

2 for 1 Mascara Review - Covergirl Plumpify and Covergirl Katy Kat Eye

Happy Thursday!

Today we are having a look at two of Covergirl's mascaras.

Covergirl's Plumpify and Waterproof Katy Kat Eye.  Both mascara's are marketed by Katy Perry.  The Plumpify is a permanent addition and the Katy Kat Eye is a new limited edition.

I purchased both of them in black.  I opened them on the same day and alternated between the two for two weeks.

Covergirl Plumpify

Plumpify comes in a red and black tube.  The brush has 360 degree bristles in a spiral pattern with a bristle covered ball on the tip.

This mascara is great.  It goes on smooth, lifts, plumps and lengthens.  It does everything a mascara is meant to do.  The formula is thin and allows for multiple coats.  There was no flaking or bleeding and it washed off with soap and water.

My issue with this mascara is the brush.  It is too gimmicky and fiddly for me.  I can get the same results with Covergirl Clump Crusher and don't have to spend extra time on application.

The formula is good, but the brush is an issue.

Covergirl Katy Kat Eye Waterproof

Katy Kat Eye comes in a simple white tube. The brush is a fanned out 360 degree spiral bristle.

This mascara is just okay.  It goes on the same as the Plumpify.  The formula is thick and needs to be blotted off before application is possible.  Multiple layers are possible, but only if you continue to blot the brush.  As the Plumpify, there was no flaking or bleeding and it washed off with soap and water.

The brush on this mascara is gimmicky as well.  The spiral is useless and just adds time to your makeup routine.

The formula is too thick and the brush is an issue.

Comparison

The idea behind both of these mascaras seems to be the same as evidenced by the spiral brush head.

Plumpify
  • Spiral brush head
  • Thin formula
  • Thick brush head with spiral ball on the end
  • Large brush head
Katy Kat Eye
  • Spiral brush head
  • Thick formula
  • Fanned out bristles
  • Small brush head

Conclusion

I wouldn't repurchase either of these again, but if I had to it would be the Plumpify.

Are you going to try either of the above mascara?

Take care,
Jen

July Favourites - Most Used

Happy August 1st!

It is that time of the month where bloggers run down their favourites from the month before!

I think the term "most used" would be a better fit for me.  I can't possibly have multiple favourites every month.  For me, a favourite is something I use over and over and am never without.

This list is the items I used, carried and wore the most this month and would recommend to others.

Any links are for your ease and are not sponsored or affiliate.

Luxury

When it is hot out, I always want to go cross body.  I can't be bothered to use a top handle and a shoulder bag always feels too bulky.

My Michael Kors Medium Selma in Dune was always by my side.  It is perfect for any scenario and the light dune color gives my outfits a light summery feel.

The usual suspects were being carried inside the bag.  I love a fun, bright print for summer and nothing works better then multicolore and bright pink!  The little coin purse is always in my bag, no matter the season.

Fun fact:  My son got a hold of my multicolore planner and pink pen!  I cleaned most of it, but  now I always think of him when I see those little pink dots on the white canvas.

Beauty

I find my beauty selections really do change monthly/seasonally.  I tried a bunch of new products this month and three of them made it into my favourites.

Left to right:
Katy Kat Matte in Sphynx, Koko K, Becca x Jaclyn Hill Face Palette, L'oreal Amber Rush, YSL Couture #2
Katy Kat Matte Coral Cat, Covergirl Plumpify (review soon), Flower Cosmetics Wild Geranium

Fashion

The hot weather means that I live in my dresses.  The Split Neck Shirt dress from Gap was the perfect amount of classy and wearable for everyday mom things.

When the nights cooled off I reached for a grey hoodie to toss on.  The hoodie from American Apparel was perfect.  It was light but still kept me warm.  Totally fuss free.  Thank you Blake Lively for the hoodies/dress trend!!

That is my run down for monthly favourites.  What are yours?

Take Care,
Jen
