Covergirl Katy Kat Mattes: Review and Swatches

Covergirl Katy Kat Mattes:  Review and Swatches

What a week.  This review was supposed to be out on Monday, but my son got sick and then I got sick.  Anyways...

Today we are swatching and reviewing all 11 of the Katy Kat Matte Lipsticks

Introduction:

Covergirl and Katy Perry have teamed up to make a line of 11 lipsticks and  1 mascara (review coming soon).  The lipsticks are termed "demi mattes" which I take to mean that they give a matte appearance without being dry and chalky.

The packaging is simple and clean.  The lipstick caps have a rubber like texture that reminds me of the Nars packaging.  It feels luxurious and high end.  I dropped one of the lipstick tubes on my hardware floors and it didn't crack or damage the lipstick.

Swatches:

10 of the 11 lipsticks swatch and apply the same.  They go on smooth and opaque and only need one coat to achieve the perfect lip.

Perry Panther was the exception.  It applies thin and takes 2-3 coats to become opaque and smooth.

Sphynx:  A light pinky nude; Pink Paws:  A bright watermelon pink; Magenta Minx:  Bright cool toned pink;  Catoure:  Brown toned pink

Cat Call:  Classic Pink; Coral Cat:  Bright Orange Toned Coral;  Kitty Purry:  Mauve;  Cosmo Kitty:  Bright Lavender

Maroon Meow:  Dark reddish purple;  Crimson Cat:  Pink based, blue tone red;  Perry Panther:  Black

Reviews:

I adore all of these lipstick shades.  Each shade I try is better then the next.  The range of the line is perfect and covers every lipstick colour you could ever want or need.  I find myself reaching for these every single day.

All colours, except Perry Panther, go on smooth, opaque and are extremely comfortable to wear.

The staying power is average and will require multiple application through out the day.

Perry Panther is gorgeous and comfortable to wear, but does not apply opaque after one coat.  I primarily used it to darken the other lipstick colours.

The term "demi-matte" is deceiving.  These do not set to a matte.  They are more of a dewy matte, which is an oxymoron, so I would just say they are a traditional creamy lipstick.

Pros:  Colour range, consistency, opaqueness, packaging, everything (lol)

Cons:  Staying power, Perry Panther is not opaque after one coat, not matte

Conclusion:

I recommend all of these colours.  If you decide to pick up a celebrity collab this year, this is the one.

Buy one or all eleven!!  You won't regret it.

Have you tried the Katy Kat Matte Line Up?

What did you think of it?

Take care,
Jen
